Our chat friend, Ronson, decided he wanted to get the word out about APBD, and he pulled it off! How to get a feature story on a major Hawaiian news program? Here’s his approach:
“Actually I’ve been consistently trying to contact many different news reporters, journalists, and broadcasting stations, and … finally I noticed Allyson Blair on Hawaii News Now one night and decided to search for her on the the hawaiinewsnow.com website.
“Through that I learned her Twitter contact and sent her my (message) and explained briefly about my situation. She immediately responded & asked me what my intentions were with contacting her. I explained that my sole intent was to generate an awareness of APBD and to inform people about about it being under-diagnosed mainly because its existence is practically unknown.”

Folks, as a result of this short feature on TV, requests for testing have poured into the foundation’s inbox. Ronson used an internet search to get background info on station reporters, and he used Twitter to make his pitch. His approach was personal and attention grabbing. What if each of us did the same thing? Imagine the patients we might find!

Looking forward to our chat on the 29th,
Harriet
